My REflictions

   #1 (11-15/Oct.)

In the first week of my teaching practice (TP), I have focused on exploring: school life, people’ behaviors and the environment. After I get used to this new experience, I began to have decisions and targets for my next steps. Hence, I organized my TP. Work and I made a schedule for my assignments. I made the first week to be (the week of observation tasks). The second and third weeks were for planning and teaching.

TP. Objectives were: 5 observations tasks, 3 teaching sessions, 2 weekly reflections, and complete TP e-portfolio. Thus, when I got to work on these tasks I felt they need a lot of work and time. In the beginning, there were many tension and stress feelings due to variety of work and responsibilities. Hence, I decided to do a plan and schedule for my TP work.

My first day was bored and hopeless. My MST was absent so I couldn’t do anything because I was planning to show and explain to her all required tasks and collecting vital information of my tasks. The TP school coordinator sent me to another teacher and I was only observing her and students, so I was disappointed and I wanted the day finished quickly. Then, I saw my colleague, I told her my situation and she asked me to join her class. I went with her and I really liked her teacher, she was enthusiastic and energetic teacher.

However, I started new day with new hopes. I met my MST and I spoke with her about everything. She was kind and helpful. I liked her classroom and her teaching strategies.

Overall, first week was full of work and events. My big goal was to finish the 5 tasks. Thus, the next following weeks will be only for planning and teaching, so I don’t get confused.  I always believe that organizing and planning is very essential, especially when you have several objectives to be done, also when you have to focus on multiple different goals. “Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.” Alan Lakein, writer

In my opinion, when you get in a real challenged situation, you have to face it and challenge yourself to achieve your goal. Also you need to ignore all thoughts that disappointed you from progressing in your experience. To my perspective, Stress, making mistakes, and worrying are normal common feelings and we need to skip them  by a “Big Ambition” (get-up-and-go).

I have learned that advanced planning always helps to be prepared all the time. I have significantly improved my knowledge of planning for learning. As a next step, I will definitely use a plan for all my work in teaching.
